A Brief Overview on Cerazette Mini Pill

Women in today’s society prefer using daily contraception in order to prevent them from getting pregnant. Hormonal contraceptive methods have proven to be the most effective form of daily contraception amongst women. The three hormonal contraceptive methods are oral contraceptive pills, contraceptive patches and contraceptive rings. Of these three methods, oral contraceptive pills have been the most popular amongst women. However, researches indicate that the other two methods are also gaining popularity at a fast pace. Millions of women have benefitted from this method of contraception and were able to prevent pregnancy. The oral contraceptive pills work with the help of synthetic female hormones present in them.

The synthetic female hormones present in a contraceptive pill become the deciding factor for bifurcation of the pills. A contraceptive pill can be either of the two, combination pill or mini-pill. A combination pill is the one which consists of two synthetic female hormones, oestrogen and progestogen. It is at times referred to as ‘the pill’. This pill, with the help of these two synthetic female hormones, works in three ways to protect women from getting pregnant. A mini-pill, on the other hand, is the one which consists of a single synthetic female hormone, progestogen. It is often referred to as the ‘progestogen only pill’.

Cerazette is the most popular mini-pill used by women. This pill proves to be suitable for women who are allergic to oestrogen, are breastfeeding or are above 35 years of age and smoking. It is also beneficial for women who are experiencing painful periods. This pill has been proven to be almost 99% effective in preventing pregnancy in women. This pill consists of desogestrel, synthetic progestogen, as its active ingredient. Cerazette is one of the two pills that functions similarly to that of a combination pill. It works in three different ways in order to prevent you from getting pregnant.

Just like a contraceptive pill, the Cerazette pill also prevents ovulation by tricking your body into believing that ovulation has already occurred. This prevents your body from producing an egg. Secondly, it thickens the cervical mucus in your womb, which prevents a sperm from entering and fertilising an egg. And lastly, the Cerazette pill alters the womb lining so that an egg, if produced and fertilised, is unable to attach itself to the walls of your womb and grow. Women are required to take this pill at least once on a daily basis at exactly the same time as the previous day.

This contraception, unlike other mini-pills, can also be taken 12 hours later than your usual time. You are required to take this pill for all 28 days of your menstrual cycle. You are not to take any break in between and continue taking the pill. One of the major disadvantages of the Cerazette pill is that you can have irregular periods. You can buy this pill on prescription after consultation with a doctor or online, through a registered online clinic. Cerazette can be taken by women who are 18 years of age or above.

From Amusement Park Spas to Snow Showers to Beauty Coaching: SpaFinder Forecasts Top 10 Global Spa Trends for 2012

New York, NY (PRWEB) December 06, 2011

From “amusement park” spas to cold treatments like “snow showers” to the arrival of beauty coaches, SpaFinder today released its annual Spa Trend Report™ forecasting the global trends and ideas that will reshape spa and wellness in 2012.

Now in its ninth year, the influential annual report is based on analyses from SpaFinder Research and its team of experts who visit hundreds of spa and wellness businesses around the world every year, as well as interviews with leading industry analysts, and data and feedback collected from SpaFinder’s partnership with over 15,000 spas, yoga, Pilates and fitness studios, wellness practitioners and salons worldwide.

The Spa Trend Report™ is developed under the direction of SpaFinder President Susie Ellis, a contributing editor to NewBeauty magazine, a founding board member of The Global Spa Summit, and author of the widely read industry blog Susie’s Spa Blog. Ellis is credited with forecasting numerous industry “mega-trends” that have taken hold in spas around the world.

“After four tough economic years that made experimentation challenging, we are seeing the industry once again pushing the envelope with exciting ideas, delivering more wows, more fun, and quite serious wellness innovation,” said Ellis.

Ellis continued: “Overall, we see two distinct themes emerging. One is the industry innovating with diverse, new sensory experiences and treatments−from cold and “vibration” therapies to new services for healthy feet. The second is how spas are re-imagining and extending their connection to customers, moving beyond the sporadic visit, to programs aimed at developing long-term relationships such as coaching and online gaming.”

The top ten global spa trends for 2012 are:

1.) Healthy Feet Treatments

The delicate human foot contains 33 joints, 26 bones, and 126 muscles, ligaments, and nerves – which women regularly squeeze into high heels. Add the fact that the average person spends four hours a day on their feet, and it’s no wonder there is a national epidemic of foot problems like bunions, hammertoes, arthritis, and worse.

Spa-goers can now take care of their troubled tootsies with a variety of treatments and classes. Canyon Ranch SpaClub in Las Vegas offers a comprehensive “Healthy Feet” program, with computerized gait analysis and treatments in zero-gravity chairs, while Yamuna’s boot camps in New York City teach attendees to improve their posture and strengthen the muscles in their feet. There are even 100% foot-focused med-spas such as California’s Stride Wellbeing, which combines podiatric medical care with a menu of foot-pampering treatments. And podiatrist-overseen “medi-pedis” are booming, like those served up at celebrity foot doc Margaret Dabbs’ London centers, or famed French foot doctor Bastien Gonzalez’ signature pedicures at One&Only spa resorts worldwide.

2.) Cold and Ice Treatments

From saunas to steam rooms to hot stone massages, spas have traditionally turned up the heat. But while heat promotes relaxation and detoxification, the benefits of icy therapies – including better circulation and reduced inflammation of muscles and joints – are finally getting their due.

Infrared saunas, which direct radiant heat into the body without heating the air, are becoming more widespread, and more extreme cold and hot/cold-contrast treatments are on the rise. Every ESPA spa in the world now offers ice rubdowns after saunas, while spa-goers at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas can experience falling snow in its Arctic Ice Room. A new Snow Shower from Thermarium will hit the market soon, and for hardcore ice devotees there’s cryotherapy, where a person spends 2-3 minutes in a chamber cooled to a mind-numbing -120°C (-184°F). It’s a highlight at Canada’s Sparkling Hill Resort and California’s US Cryotherapy Center – the first dedicated “cold therapy clinic” − which is poised to franchise its full-body, cold-therapy chamber to other locations.

3.) Wellness and Beauty Coaching

Health coach. Sleep coach. Eyebrow coach. Coaching is gathering steam at spas, and with good reason. While isolated treatments have their benefits, spas are in a unique position to help people make the kind of lifestyle changes that lead to long-term health and well-being. With the word “spa” increasingly evoking an entire lifestyle, it is only logical that coaching will become a fundamental part of the spa philosophy.

US destination spas like MiiAmo and Canyon Ranch are taking the lead with spa coaching packages followed by post-visit consultations via phone, email, and even Skype. The trend is also hitting the beauty arena, with Clarins officially offering “beauty coaches” at its new flagship spa in Paris. As wellness-related gadgets and apps become more advanced, watch for long-distance wellness and beauty coaching to become even more prevalent.

4.) Online Wellness Gaming

Half a billion people worldwide play online games for at least an hour a day, and gaming’s addictive features – points, challenges, rewards, social interaction – are uniquely suited to making healthy lifestyle changes stick. Pioneers in the wellness gaming space include early entries like the meditation game Leela, from mind-body guru Deepak Chopra, and MindBloom’s Life Game, which rewards members for achieving well-being goals and has the backing of insurance giant Aetna.

While French beauty powerhouse Clarins has dipped its toes into the market with its beauty-centric Facebook game “Spa Life,” the spa industry is well-poised to take the lead in wellness games, as spas already enjoy powerful real-world connections with their customers. The next step is to use gaming to maintain those connections once they return home, offering daily online workouts, using sensors to track progress, and facilitating online encouragement from therapists, friends, and family.

5.) Spa, Wine, and Dine Packages

While many hotels and resorts have long offered both very fine food and very fine spa, the two weren’t traditionally paired together as a package. That’s changing in a big way, as fine dining and spa-ing are being aggressively paired, packaged, curated, marketed, and savored together as never before. Creative culinary-plus-spa experiences have become a massive trend because they’re massively appealing: a logical, sensory, “lifestyle” combo for both pleasure seekers and true connoisseurs.

This healthy hedonism lends itself to an infinite variety of packages, from the “culi-spa” weekends offered by San Francisco’s Cavallo Point – which features expeditions to local farmers’ markets – to full-immersion packages like the “Plates and Pilates” retreat at Cascina Papaveri (Italy), where guests help harvest and cook food around their daily sessions. Other spas are curating spa/wine/food combinations; at Auberge du Soleil (Napa Valley), each vinotherapy spa treatment is paired with a local wine selected by their sommelier.

6.) Vibration, Sound, Music, Light, and Color Therapies

Spas have long used sound and light as ambient accessories. Now, new scientific evidence revealing the physical and emotional benefits of frequencies and vibrations has inspired an explosion of approaches based on the idea that various systems in our bodies vibrate at different frequencies, and disruptions can affect our health.

The Spa at Woodloch (Pennsylvania) offers Tibetan sound massage, which balances the body with vibrations from singing bowls, while more spas are incorporating Ayurvedic medicine, which corrects chakra imbalances with color therapy.

Perhaps the most exciting aspect of the trend is an explosion of blended, multi-sensory “good vibrations” approaches, including new saunas, steam capsules, lounge chairs, massage tables, tubs, and experiential pods that weave light, color, sound, and music/rhythm together for sensory bliss. The trend is epitomized by Miraval Resort’s (US) new Taiz Sensorium, which integrates vibrational medicine, music therapy, gentle human touch, and aromatic oils to fully engage all senses. And look for the new Wolke 7 Cloud 9, a futuristic multisensory, multidimensional recliner experience designed by award-winning Vienna artist sha, to show up in top spas soon.

7.) The Glam Factor

The intensity, frequency, and sheer whimsicality with which people are now getting “glammed up” is exploding worldwide.

The spa and beauty industry is working overtime to invent ways for beauty-seekers on a budget to more quickly, more cheaply, and more often change up their looks and hair with high-impact little beauty “fixes” and frills. “Blingy beauty” is hot – from funky and flashy manicures like those with Swarovski crystals or holograms at Manhattan’s Spa Martier, to creative hair flair: intricate braids, ornate feathers, ribbons, crystals, and colorful extensions. Speed and convenience also figure big in popular chains like Drybar’s blow-dry bars; Blushington Makeup Beauty Lounge, offering walk-in professional makeup applications; and :10 Minute Manicures in airport salons. At Blink, a brow bar in London, it’s all about the eyes, with lash tints, brow shaping, false eyelashes, and anything to glam up the peepers.

For the flush and not-so-rushed, spas are offering ultra-high-end experiences. The Guerlain Spa at NYC’s Waldorf Astoria, which is re-launching with a distinct 50’s glamour sensibility, ends each spa treatment with a complimentary makeup application or pressing service that sends guests away looking like a page out of a vintage French fashion magazine. Toronto’s Quartz Crystal Spa at Trump International takes it one step further with an interior design that transports guests to an oasis of vintage Hollywood glamour.

8.) Spa Evidence

Will a massage boost immunity? Can time in a sauna cure cold symptoms? Does acupressure relieve lower back pain?

The answers to those questions can be found at SpaEvidence.com. Launched in 2011, the site is the web’s most comprehensive resource on the hard science behind popular spa and wellness therapies like massage, foot reflexology, aromatherapy, yoga, and meditation. It’s part of a growing trend toward holding alternative therapies up to scientific scrutiny – and the wealth of positive results has encouraged the medical community to adopt spa approaches, while providing an opportunity for the spa industry to link their menu of treatments to medical evidence.

In 2012, more hospitals than ever will incorporate – and more doctors will prescribe – spa and wellness approaches. Meanwhile, big spa players like Rancho La Puerta (Mexico), Fairmont’s Willow Stream Spas (across Asia, Europe, and North America), and SpaFinder.com have adopted a custom version of SpaEvidence.com, while other spas prominently link to the site. As clinical studies continue to erode the barriers between traditional and alternative therapies, look for more spas to adopt the language of evidence-based medicine.

9.) Spas Become a Family Affair

As more families travel with children to spas, the industry is evolving to accommodate the under-18 set – from opening kids-only spas to offering services focused on everything from childhood obesity to the development of lifelong wellness practices.

Spa parties, big with brides-to-be, now come in kid-friendly versions, while kid-specific day spas such as Sundae Spa in Connecticut offer playfully named treatments like “ice cream pedicures” and “starfish sparkle manicures.” The Omni Houston Galleria now offers dedicated kids’ packages, while Nickelodeon Suites in Orlando showcases a kids’ spa. Major destination and resort spas have also recently opened separate spas for kids, including Schloss Elmau in Germany and the new Disney Aulani resort in Hawaii, which offers a special spa designed exclusively for kids and teens, baby massage classes for new parents, and a host of other family-oriented services.

10.) Spas Aim for the “Wow” Factor

Gone are the days of interchangeable spas with the same beige, Zen look. As seasoned spa-goers seek new experiences, spas are piling on the “wow” factor to differentiate themselves from the crowd.

There are wows for almost any budget. Big wows include celebrity partnerships (Richard Branson speaking at Six Senses, Thailand; Mariel Hemingway serving as spokesperson for SpaFinder Wellness Week), futuristic designs like Milan’s outrageous bubble-themed Atomic Spa Suisse, or the cool, inspired treehouse concept at the Cocoon Spa at Indigo Pearl Phuket. Small wows include unexpected amenities like Mii Amo’s (US) WaveMotion rocking massage table, which makes clients feel like they’re floating.

Other spas have broken from the hushed, deadly-serious pack by lightening up, and a whole new species of “amusement park” spas are on the rise. The Kayley Sauna and Water Park in Estonia showcases tube slides, bubble baths, and every type of sauna imaginable, while New York City’s Spa Castle offers five stories of internationally themed saunas, steam baths, and swimming areas – plus a food court.

Postscript:

SpaFinder also highlighted one emerging trend that did not make it into the global top 10 primarily because it is mostly a U.S. phenomenon– Corporate Wellness Programs & Spas. SpaFinder Research will release a special report summarizing the significance and state of employee wellness in the printed edition of this report available in January 2012.

Elizabeth City Personal Injury Lawyer’s Christmas Wish: A Safe Holiday Travel Season for Eastern North Carolina Drivers

Elizabeth City personal injury lawyer Danny Glover Jr.

Elizabeth City, N.C. (PRWEB) December 03, 2011

The roads throughout Eastern North Carolina will be busy during this month’s holiday season. Unfortunately, that means there will be a greater potential for getting into an auto accident, Elizabeth City personal injury attorney Danny Glover Jr. said today.

Based on 2010 figures, the National Safety Council estimates that more than 600 people across the U.S. will die in a motor vehicle crash during the holiday season, while nearly 60,000 will be seriously injured in an accident.

“A combination of many factors – increased traffic, distractions, bad weather and poor decisions – clearly make this one of the most dangerous periods of the year to be driving,” said Glover, a partner in the Elizabeth City personal injury law firm of Teague & Glover, P.A.

“But, ultimately, most car accidents can be prevented,” he said. “That’s why we urge all Eastern North Carolina drivers to be defensive drivers, use good judgment and ensure that they enjoy a safe holiday season.”

According to Glover, motorists in Elizabeth City and surrounding areas should consider the following measures in order to better protect themselves throughout the coming month:

Designate a driver – If you anticipate drinking at a holiday function, pick a designated driver in advance to ensure a sober ride home. If you don’t have one, call a taxi instead of driving while under the influence.

Plan ahead and leave extra time – Avoid peak travel periods such as right before and after Christmas and New Year’s Eve. Go to the mall on weekday afternoons or early on weekends to avoid congestion and stressed-out, aggressive drivers. Anticipate travel delays and let your friends and family know you’re running behind. They would rather you arrive safely and late than rush and risk an accident.

Concentrate on driving – More and more accidents are caused by distracted driving, including cell phone use, texting, adjusting GPS devices or other gadgets, eating and grooming. Driving requires your full attention throughout the year, and particularly during the hectic holidays.

Don’t hit the road after binge eating – Indulging in big holiday dinners can make you drowsy and uncomfortable. Turkey, a staple of many Christmas meals, also contains tryptophan, a sedative that can make you even more tired. Drowsiness is a leading cause of Eastern North Carolina auto accidents, so wait until you are rested to travel. If you get sleepy behind the wheel, pull off the highway and take a break.

Prepare your car – Holiday travel might be the first out-of-town trip in a long time for many North Carolina drivers. It’s important to make sure your car is up to the task by getting it checked out before you take to the road. Tires are a key area of concern. Make sure they have enough tread and are properly inflated. Cooler temperatures reduce the air pressure in tires and can cause them to underperform. Bald tires can lose traction and result in dangerously long stopping distances.

“Above all, wear your seat belt,” Glover said. “Countless lives could be saved every holiday season if everyone buckled up.”

Glover admitted that all too often, even the safest driver can fall victim to the negligent or reckless driving of another motorist. He advised Eastern North Carolina residents who are injured in car crashes to seek immediate medical treatment.

“Some conditions may not become evident for hours or even days after the wreck, so it’s important to follow up on any medical examination,” he said.

“It’s also important to avoid giving a recorded or written statement to the other driver’s insurance company, and never accept a settlement offer without first consulting with a North Carolina auto accident attorney.”

Dead Mall in Warner Robins, GA

Posted by admin on 30 Jan 2012   |   22 comments   |   Filed in Walkin Clinics

Dead malls are popping up here and yon. Neighborhoods change in demographics and many malls become teen hangouts. Mostly it is thanks to Wal-Mart and busy lifestyles not lending themselves to mall walking. The Houston Mall in Warner Robins (100mi S of Atlanta, GA) is open but has medical offices, nail salons and secondary shops where once the heart of area retail beat strongly. Macon Mall is likely to suffer the same consequence (probably losing 3 anchor stores in next few years) but the Galleria is the most troubled of the area malls. This was shot in 2006 but I had to remove it due to using a copyrighted audio track. All nonlicensed content is banned on Youtube. But I put in audio from Bamboo Flutes (public domain) and here is my resubmission. This is a gentle ribbing of a Paw Filmworks video on Dixie Square Mall. They since replaced it with some other great clips. I look forward to their DVD very soon.

Clionsky Neuro Systems (CNS-Neuro) Announces Publication of Study Finding Elderly Patients Unable to Recognize Their Memory Loss

Emily Clionsky, M.D.

Springfield, MA (PRWEB) November 18, 2011

Mitchell Clionsky, Ph.D. and Emily Clionsky, M.D. of CNS-Neuro, announced new data supporting the use of screening tests to identify cognitive loss in older Americans. Their study asked two hundred elderly patients and their families to rate how well they think and remember. They found that the patients’ answers had no relationship to their tested cognitive ability, that the relatives were minimally better, and that doctors should measure cognition rather than asking about it during the Annual Wellness Visit. These findings, published in the November 2011 Journal of Family Practice (http://www.jfponline.com/pages.asp?id=10018), may help doctors decide which of their patients need treatment for memory loss.

The authors, a neuropsychologist and an internist/psychiatrist, asked patients and their loved ones to rate their abilities to pay attention, remember, start new projects, make judgments and care for themselves. They found that patients were unable to accurately determine if they were normal or not. They also discovered that their loved ones, who accompanied them to a cognitive testing appointment, were scarcely better. By contrast, their 5-minute office test, the Memory Orientation Screening Test (MOST™) accurately identified these problems and was significantly better at this than a longer test most often used by doctors, the Folstein Mini-Mental State Exam.

This finding is particularly important since, in January 2011, Medicare has encouraged all seniors to have an Annual Wellness Visit. The AWV is a no-copayment office visit in which doctors are asked to identify cognitive impairment, measure depression, take the patient’s blood pressure, calculate their body mass index, document all current illnesses and list all current medications to formulate a preventive health plan for the next year. Medicare had not instructed doctors how to identify cognitive problems, instead relying on their office observations and reports of patients and family members. But, the findings of this study suggest that such impressionistic data is misleading. Patients deny or overrate their thinking. They tell doctors that they remember all that they need to remember and they give excuses for their memory failures. If doctors take these reports at face value, they will fail to make a diagnosis of dementia in its early stages and will not start memory-stabilizing medications when they are the most likely to be beneficial. In an era when Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias affect almost 6 million seniors and is increasing every year, this reliance on inaccurate data leads to a failure to diagnose and treat this important condition.

Dr. Mitchell Clionsky, the lead author and experienced neuropsychologist, reports that most of the patients he sees are referred to him fairly late in their illness. “By the time they are identified, they may have given away their savings, caused auto accidents, or become unable to live on their own,” he notes. Dr. Emily Clionsky, a physician who specializes in treating dementia, knows that when patients with thinking problems are diagnosed earlier she may be able to improve their memory capacity by treating underlying or contributing medical causes. She also finds that starting memory medications earlier in the illness can alter the course and speed of cognitive decline. Earlier diagnosis may make the difference in how long a person can live in the community and when they may need assisted living or nursing home care. From a general medical perspective, knowing how well a person thinks helps the doctor to know if the patient can be trusted to take medications for other conditions or will become confused and end up with a costly hospital stay. “Many of my patients are taking five or more medications for other conditions,” says Dr. Clionsky. “Their poor memories cause them to have problems regulating diabetes and high blood pressure. We also know that dementia leads to falls and fractures, often putting that patient into a rehabilitation unit or a nursing home when that problem might have been averted.”

By using the MOST, a medical assistant can spend five minutes with the patient, have the patient perform a few simple tasks, and produce a simple score that tells the doctor if that patient’s thinking is normal for someone of that age. The doctor can then reassure a patient who is doing well, order additional tests for one who is beginning to decline, and start treatment for one who has had greater losses. The MOST score then becomes part of the patient’s record and can be repeated to see how that person is doing over time and in response to treatment. “When families and doctors have data, they can make the right choices and get better outcomes,” according to Dr. Emily Clionsky. “This is no different than measuring blood pressure or cholesterol levels. Having the right test leads to ordering the right treatment and improving patient health and independence. Today, with the cost of medical care rising and everyone looking to save money, preventing medication errors and accidental injuries makes sense and saves health care dollars.”

The MOST is currently available in paper form and will soon be released as an iPad application. For more information go to http://cns-neuro.com/ .

Tummy Tuck – Full Mini And The Affordable Options

Posted by admin on 22 Jan 2012   |   0 comment   |   Filed in Walkin Clinics

Article by Amelia Aitken

People around the world are getting more and more figure-conscious. A loose and sagging abdomen, particularly after pregnancies, can hurt your body image and persona. You have every right to revive your figure and give a fresh lease to your life. Unfortunately, dieting and exercising are not sufficient enough to tighten your sagging abdominal skin or to tone up your abdominal muscles. A tummy tuck cosmetic surgery can help you to revive your figure. This article is dedicated to tummy tuck cosmetic surgery, its variations, and means that can make the operation affordable to you.

What Is a Tummy Tuck Operation?

In a nutshell, a tummy tuck operation (medically termed as Abdominoplasty) surgically removes redundant skin and excess fat from your abdominal region. Muscles of the abdominal wall are also tightened during the process. The outcome of a tummy tuck operation is a tighter and flatter abdomen.

There is a warning though. Those of you, who are planning future pregnancies, should not undergo tummy tuck operation.

Tummy Tuck operation – Options available

Depending on the circumstances, a cosmetic surgeon might opt for a traditional or full-scale version of the tummy tuck operation; or she might also opt for a “mini” version of the operation.

A full-scale abdominoplasty operation can take you up to five hours to finish. It is an intensive approach. You will be requiring full anesthesia for that. An incision is made from hip bone to hip bone along the public space of the abdominal region. The stretch of the incision varies from individual to individual. Usually, the surgeon tries to make the incision as small as required for easy healing during the post-operative stage. Another incision is also required around the navel. The sagging skin (including the portion that contains stretch marks as a result of pregnancies) is pulled away. The damaged muscles are tightened by using multiple sutures. As a byproduct of the surgery, you may ask your cosmetic surgeon to reposition your navel so that it appeals to the eye. The results of the full-scale tummy tuck operation are dramatic and it gives you a fresh, eye-catching look.

Some people also wish to undergo the mini version of the tummy tuck operation. Here, a smaller incision is made. The scope of excess fat and muscle tightening is obviously less than the full-scale version. You might wonder why people might be interested to undergo the mini abdominoplasty operation then. The recovery time for this type of tummy tuck operation is significantly less. The potential risks involved are also less. The scarring as a result of operation is easier to heal.
