It’s understandable when kids are scared of going to the doctor, getting shots, and getting surgery’s done, but i’m 18 years old now and I think it’s time for me to grow up. I hate always being so shaky about doctors, it’s pathetic. How do I get over this? It”s not like i’m terrified, but i’m always worried, and nervous, and I wish I could just walk into a doctors office with the same mindset as if i’m walking into the mall, like it’s nothing.
Any tips?
treat your doctor as a friend, think that you’re just visiting an old friend/ relative? i have been at my family doctor for my whole life, we have lots to talk about such as the economy and things that are irrelevant to health.
Try visiting the dr office a few days before your appointment. Just go in the waiting room & get comfortable being there.
Tell your dr & the staff of your anxiety, they may also be able to help you with this.
